noun phrase

Definition: An RDF graph identified by an IRI or blank node within an RDF dataset, allowing the graph to be referred to as a unit and associated with provenance, context, or other metadata. W3C’s RDF 1.1 dataset model defines named graphs as pairs comprising an IRI or blank node and an RDF graph; related W3C materials explicitly note their usefulness for provenance and grouping [W3C].

Example in context: “Sets of triples may also be grouped within named graphs to aggregate more information by extending the triple structure to quads of the form <subject, predicate, object, named-graph>.” [Hofer et al. 2024]

Synonym: named RDF graph

Related terms: RDF graph; RDF dataset; knowledge graph; URI; provenance metadata
